Here are five things I loved and was doing last week to inspire yours. We are on vacation this week, but wanted to share some of the fun stuff we did last week! Happy Friday!
Tater and I went on an adventure to Hayes Valley last week. I love going to Hayes Valley as an adult (the great shopping!), but don’t take the kids there very often, so it was fun to try something new. I have driven by the Hayes Valley Playground a million times, but had never been in. So we checked it out. Overall, it was an average playground…there are no slides or swings, which was a little challenging, but there are a couple of climbing structures.
We maxed out at the official “playground” pretty fast, and headed down to Patricia’s Green (the amazing green space between Octavia and Hayes). Tater liked the climbing structure there better than the playground and we got to check out Dodi and Trillan by Hybycozo. Overall a successful new neighborhood adventure.
I love the toast trend!! Bread, butter, sugar, what could be better?! We headed over the The Mill to pick up a loaf of Josey Baker Bread and have a late breakfast/snack.
Packing for a family of four (two kids and me, Mr. H packs himself) is super time consuming. I pack the kids checked bag early in the week, mine mid-week, and then the carryons towards the end of the week. So looking forward to vacation, but packing can take forever! For my tips on packing and downloadable packing lists, check out my recent post here.
D even helped me pack his bag this time. He lost interest after about five minutes, but it was a start.
Tater’s bag looks a lot like D’s bag, just add diapers, wipes, and a floatey.
I love podcasts and have been browsing around for some new ones recently to mix things up. We also started listening to them in the car on the way to/from school, which the kids LOVE. This week we tried:
Story Pirates: Stories written by kids and performed on the podcast.
The Mom Vent: A mom-focused podcast that addresses your questions with experts from the field. Check it out, I recently did a travel podcast with them.
The longest Shortest Time: The Parenting Podcast for Everyone. They have a great podcast about talking to your kids about race.
I also found this article with some great suggestions for new kid podcasts to try. Can’t wait to see which ones the little ones like best. What are your favorite podcasts? Let me know in the comments so we can check them out.
There is construction on our normal commute to/from school so we have been experimenting with different driving routes around town. In the process, I have been driving by signs for the San Francisco Columbarium. Curious what it was, I went to check it out. The SF Colubarium is a cemetery. They welcome visitors to their location as a place of peace and calm in the city. Although, not really kid friendly, it was a nice stop in my afternoon for a quiet moment in my normally busy day.
What have you been up to? What are you loving this week?
