November is here. Thanksgiving is around the corner and the holidays will soon be upon us. Here are the best kid friendly San Francisco events happening this November 2017.
This popular rink is celebrated its 10th anniversary. The season kicks off Wed., Nov. 1 at 9:30am with an opening day ceremony followed by an all-day birthday celebration on Fri., Nov. 3, when skating is FREE. Flashback Friday is Nov. 10. Any person with a birthday between Nov. 3 and Jan. 15 with proof of ID will be given FREE admission and skate rental for their birthday.
Celebrating 31 years of holiday spirit, this rink bills itself as the largest outdoor rink in the Bay Area. Sun.-Thurs: 10am-9:30pm. Fri.-Sat.: 10am-11:30pm. Sessions begin on every even hour beginning at 10am and last 90 minutes.
Free general admission to SnowBomb Ski and Board Festival 2017. ENTERTAINMENT: Bounce House for Kids, Pro Athletes, BMX/Skate Ramp Show & Live Music. Join a park ranger for a gentle 4-mile ride and enjoy the history and nature of the Presidio. Rent a bike or bring your own. For age 8 and up.
Join us as at Davies Symphony Hall for the 10th anniversary of our Day of the Dead celebration, featuring two vibrant, fun-filled events. Mexican cultural icon Eugenia León lends her exquisite vocals to the San Francisco Symphony for a family-friendly afternoon concert, conducted by Alondra de la Parra. At the evening performance, León performs an intimate set backed by her own band. Arrive early for refreshments, live music, dancing, colorful altars, and folk art! Nov 4/5: There are over 200 species of birds within the Presidio! Come celebrate wour winter birds by joining us in the Officers Club as we make yarn birds. You can also join a bird walk on the morning of November 5th to learn about birding and conversation in The Presidio! Nov 11/12: For over 150 years, American soldiers have called the Presidio home. On this Veteran’s Day weekend Creative Family Fun with be making “Star Spangled Banners” of our own! Nov 18/19: Get creative with Classical columns! Sculpt a column based on the Presidio’s Palace of Fine Arts or design your own.

One of our personal favorite events of October. The largest sandcastle competition in Northern California is not only fun for the family and a great excuse to get the community together out on the beach; it also raises money for a fantastic organization, Leap, that brings hands-on learning experiences to over 6,000 students across the Bay Area. Head on over to Ocean Beach between 11am and 4pm to witness some dazzling sand creations!
The annual GISSV San Francisco Lantern Festival is a fun family event including crafts, lantern making, German food & drinks and a lantern parade through the Presidio.
Tillery takes the audience on a journey through the songs of the ancestors while reminding everyone to stay hip while they get down.

Starting on November 25, 2017, the hotel transforms into one of the world’s most beloved holiday destinations, where moments are turned into cherished memories. Fairmont San Francisco’s two-story, life-sized Gingerbread House in the hotel’s grand lobby has become a must-see attraction for guests from near and far. Fairmont San Francisco’s talented culinary and engineering teams have joined forces to meticulously plan construction of this year’s enormous Gingerbread House, which will be even larger than last year’s stunning, two-story-high Victorian! Once complete, the impressive, edible abode will stand more than 25 feet high, 35 feet wide and 10 feet deep and will feature more than 10,250 homemade gingerbread bricks, 1,650 pounds of candy and 3,300 pounds of royal icing. The gingerbread house’s railroad track also delights guests of all ages, who happily gaze upon this favorite feature.
Celebrate the changing seasons by making a unique Borax snowflake. For age 3 and up. Children under 8 must be accompanied by a paying, participating adult.
